So LA steals Game 1 on the road…Can they pull off an upset (not a real big one…but still) at home?

Bill Walton (San Diego)

A close game that 1984 grabs and pulls away at the end….Amazing Bill Walton did that…This may be the only time we see him in SD….12-16 to help your team win on the road isn’t too shabby.

1984 Wins 100-97

Series Tied 1-1

Game 3

This is it. Game 3. In San Diego.

Here’s what happened (we’re getting a whole bunch of close games for the Clips tourney…I like it.). The 4th begins with 1984 up 3. These must have been some pressured filled moments, as a lot of rushed shots began the 1st 30 seconds of the fourth, until Davis hits two free throws, then Cummings hits a jumper. Rasual (I like to call him Rasual Casual for some reason…) Butler hits a contested turnaround. 1984 leads by 1. Then 3 after a tip by Cummings. Another hot stretch follows. Baron Davis is fouled during a three, and hits all shots, tieing it, until Nixon quickly hits a shot, answered by a one hander from Craig Smith. Off a no looker from Walton, Cummings jams down 2 points. LA goes up by one when Craig Smith hits a banker, and converts the freebee…Hank McDowell hits a two, but can’t make free throw two. SD is up by one. An And-1 chance is missed by Al Thornton, but his jumper puts them up 1 with 8:31 left. But that brief lead is erased by Ricky Pierce. Then Marcus Camby puts LA up. No one hits anything for almost two minutes, until Greg Kelser hits a runner from two feet, but Rasual Butler makes LA’s lead 97-95 after a three. Two free throws from Davis makes the lead four. With 4:13 left, Walton hits a jumper, but Craig Smith puts the lead back to four. Terry Cummings hits a jumper, but LA can’t answer with anything but a turnover. The game becomes tied after 2 of three free throws fall for Craig Hodges. But Eric Gordon hits a jumper. The score is 103-101 with 2:56 left. A streak of scoring follows, started by Greg Kelsers jumper, then two free throws from Eric Gordon. With a bit under 2 minutes left, Terry Cummings throws down a dunk, answered by a Chris Kaman shot. But San Diego ties it up with a Craig Hodges shot with 1 and a half minutes left. Then 2010 looks to pull away off an And-1 from Eric Gordon. The lead is three, until Chris Kaman makes it 5 with 23 seconds left, then Davis makes it 6. San Diego can’t hit three’s so LA wins, and beats them on the road to pull off an upset.
