The moment you’ve ALL been waiting for! The LOS! ANGELES!
CLIPPERS!!!!!!!!
To begin, the 1975 Buffalo Braves get a first round
bye…Let’s jump right in!
(21) 1990 Los Angeles
Clippers (30-52) vs. (22) 1996 Los Angeles Clippers (29-53)
Does it get any better? 30 wins and 29 wins! Let’s battle to
the death! (I feel sorry for 1990…no Ron Harper….They suck!). (By the way…Bison
Dele is known as Brian Williams.
Game 1
We’re treated to a thriller of a finish…Before you find out
who won, I’ll give you a quick play by play. 1990 starts the 4th
quarter down 10. 1996’s lead hovers around 10-12. After 5 straight points by
Danny Manning, it’s a 6 point game, but Lamond Murray hits a jumper with 8:20
left to make it 8. Then they look to rally back, as Tom Garrick hits a shot,
then assists on a three from Ken Norman in the corner.
But then they foul Brent
Barry on a three, and he hits them all, making the lead 6 with 5:45 to play. A
Joe Wolf dunk, and a fadeaway And-1 from Danny Manning pulls the lead to 1….Until
Rodney Rogers hits a deadly right corner three off a no-looker from Loy Vaught.
1996 pulls the lead to 6 with under three to play. With 2:34 left, the score is
100-94, with 1996 leading. They have scored their last points. Benoit Benjamin
makes a shot, then Jeff Martin hits an And-1….With 1 minute to play, it’s a one
point lead to 1996. Loy Vaught can’t hit a shot, but he grabs his own
board….But Brent Barry can’t hit a shot. Charles Smith hits a contested jumper
to put them permanently in the lead. It’s not like 1996 didn’t have a
chance…After Smith missed a freebee, and they stopped David Rivers with 31
seconds left, they can’t hit a shot. Malik Sealy misses one in the paint, then
Brian Williams just misses a shot short at the end of regulation…Must have been
an exciting game…Not that anyone would have watched if it were televised….Loy
Vaught didn’t get much help…It was basically his 22-11 that was against 1990’s
19-17 from Benoit Benjamin, 11 assists from Tom Garrick off the bench, and 10
from David Rivers…Great debut for the Clippers!

Benoit Benjamin (Los Angeles)
1990 Wins 101-100
1990 Leads Series 1-0
But we now travel over to 1996’s LA…This one was close…Are
we in for another good one?
Game 2
Another good one! After being down 9 at one point during the
4th, 1996 battles back to make it a tied game with 10 seconds left
off a Stanley Roberts one hander. With two seconds left, Charles Smith launches
a floater….And it falls! But there is still two seconds remaining. Can 1996
force a desisive Game 3? The ball will go to Malik Sealy after a timeout………But Sealy
misses badly and 1990 is going to round 2! What a great series. I may have made
a joke about the quality of this matchup…But this was a very good series. Had I
known that there would be two climatic finishes, I would have bought tickets
and watched it…Great series.
